a funny page, made in reaction to a column in yesterday's Washington Post reporting research that people who watch the Daily Show were being influenced to stay away from the polls. quite stupid, really. if you want to add to the fray (not sure it's worth it), go to:www.enemyofdemocracy.com

yikesvery scary op-ed in today's Washington Post in which former defense secretary Perry makes a forceful argument for a pre-emptive attack on North Koreai would not want to be in either of the Koreas right about now

Another great one is The Fog of War. Very relevant to what is going on now - but really, to any war. It's interesting that Mcnamara stops short of saying what he really feels about his role in Vietnam.Has anyone seen Gunner Palace? Seems interesting as well.

Saw an interesting movie recently, "Why We Fight." You're probably aware of it even if you haven't seen it already. It uses Eisenhower's 1960 farewell address (which I think coined the term military-industrial complex) as a thematic anchor. It also features Chalmers Johnson discussing "blowback," starting with the 1954 coup in Iran. I don't think the movie says anything you don't already know, but it effectively dramatizes many things you do.Also, Niel Young has a new cd, "Living with War," that's been getting rave reviews. I like what I've heard from it on the radio. He's also released a concert film with (I think) the same title, and those who've seen it say it's great.
