We were back in the studio recording this past month and will be releasing "LIES" on CD very soon with a few extra tracks. Once again our man Ariel Francis was behind the board, this time at One World Studios in DC.

Also we're gearing up for the Republican National Convention in New York City (Aug 29-Sept 2). Blowback will be out on the streets along with what officials estimate could be 1 million protesters. Stay tuned for gig info, we hope to see you in the Big Apple.

Check out LIES on 7" and our first CD TRACK III on the music page
. More to come.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Brown vs. Board of Education decision in Topeka KS, and the opening of National Historic Site at the school where segregation was ruled unconstitutional. BLOWBACK' s recording of "We Shall Not Be Moved" ("No Nos Moveran", with Spanish and English lyrics) is part of a musical exhibit at the museum site, and we're quite honored to be included alongside songs by Bob Marley, Public Enemy, Neil Young, Gil Scott-Heron and others. You can download our MP3 of "Nos Nos Moveran" here. The song is also on our 7" LIES. Learn more about the site and exhibit in our Documents Section.

Breaking The Silence is a very cool radio show from Serbia, BLOWBACK was featured in the show that aired May 22. Check out the show at http://www.breakingthesilence.co.yu/.

Blowback's first album, 'Track III', bears a double meaning. It was recorded 2 years ago during the weekend of Sept 11 2001 in New York City.  Enough said. The picture on the cover is however from Sept 11 1973, the date of a violent coup in Chile that put Pinochet in power.  A number of events around the country and globe will commemorate this date in different ways, click here to see what may be happening near you.

8/20/03:

Here it is. A new Blowback song titled "Plegaria del Sicario" (Prayer of the Hired Gun). Available for free download. Feel free to share this with friends and music sites alike.  This song will be on the upcoming Blowback EP due out by the end of this year. Click here to get the download.

Great show at Casa Del Pueblo on the 13th of June. Many thanks to Margaux for the poetry and her puppeteering along with Nadine (who also provided the puppets!), Melinda, Stephanie, and Andrew, the latter who also along with Joanna, Jason, and Janai hustled with our magnificent impresario Martin to pull it all together. Thanks to ACLU-National Capital Area, Casa del Pueblo, Marcus for the sound; and all those who came out. A pleasant surprise: Franklin's voice didn't give out, John didn't go too fast, Senyor didn't break a string, and Bob III didn't slip on anything.

Blowback did an interview for a very cool new zine called Never1984. To check it out send $1, 3 stamps, or trade to: Andrew Ninnemann 4401 Fair Oaks Ave. Menlo Park, CA 94025.

You may have noticed Blowback often refers to monkeys in our lyrics. If you don't understand why, you must click here.  You can find all of our favorite monkeyboy pictures by browsing through out lyrics page, there are a few easter eggs in there.

Well after a brief hiatus, Blowback just wrapped up a session in DC, many thanks to those who made us feel right at home and back in the groove. We recorded some rough takes of new songs and we're going to get something posted on the site right soon.  No performances planned for this weekend's protests but most of the band will be out in force. Hope to see you there.
