GEORGE'S DAYDREAM
 |
Actually,
this was originally about a completely different George, a fictional
one. |
They scramble
for cover by shopping at Wal-mart
Blow-dried reporters fawn over alerts
Driving up ratings
while scaring the public
TV whitewashes war into a game
What they don't
show you: the mangled up children,
The twisted out metal that ripped through their skulls.
TV shows war games
and tumbling statues,
Happy young families saluting the flag.
I want to wake
up on the beach
I want to wake up on the beach
Don't want perpetual
war, don't want pre-emptive strikes
Don't want clandestine killings as no might makes right
Don't want no covert
ops, don't want more frankensteins
No Pax Americana imposed by might makes right
The schools
are all crumbling, while mayors
push stadiums
kids have no parents - 2
million in jail
Feigning surprise when the poor turn to crime
Some hopeless downtrodden finds joy in a gun
Then children's
smashed faces, the littering fingers,
The brain splattered sidewalk 'neath TV news shoes
I want to wake up on the beach
I want to wake up on the beach
Don't want no stupid
stadiums; don't want a puppet mayor
Don't want an underclass or 2 mil behind the bars
Don't want perpetual
war, don't want no drive-by crime
Don't want police state nor 2 mil behind the bars
Wake Up!!
Why don't you wake
up?
