Radio Blowback is off to a great start, tune in this week for the final
installment of our interview with Adam Isaacson of the Center for International
Policy. The coming weeks will feature talks with Sarah Anderson of the
Institute for Policy Studies, Kit Gage of the First Amendment Foundation,
and a shitload of hardcore punk you may not have heard before. Every
Wednesday at 2PM PST on Killradio.org.
We are sad to hear our friends in Kill The Man Who Questions and Crispus
Attucks have each decided to call it day. They are both excellent
bands, catch their farewell performances if at all possible.

'RADIO
BLOWBACK' DEBUTS -- Members of Blowback have collaborated
to launch a weekly radio show, called Radio Blowback. The show
can be heard Wednesdays from 2-4PM PST at www.killradio.org.
Aside from offering up the best in hardcore, punk and metal
streaming live from Los Angeles, the show will also feature interviews
with policymakers on Capitol Hill, with the goal of offering an
in-depth look at the way laws and legislation get made -- from
the eyes of the activist -- and providing solutions for how to
make your voice have the most impact on the democratic process.

Washingtonpost.com was kind enough to make Blowback's "Consumer
Society" an editor's pick this week. You can check out the download
at mp3.washingtonpost.com.
The song is on our just-finished CD Track III. You can
get the CD now at a few stores in New York and Washington DC, or you

BLOWBACK RELEASES SPECIAL FORCES DOCUMENTS, STAGES
PUBLIC ACTION -- Blowback
has released Army documents with disturbingly candid characterizations
of Special Forces tactics. Look for the parts about "rapes",
"irreparable psychological damage", and a team that "operates
above and beyond the law". Also read about Blowback's
first coordinated public action, surrounding a Tom Clancy book tour
hyping the Special Forces.
See the documents posted here,
view the press release,
and read a recap of the
events tonight.

BANNED
IN NYC -- Blowback has been banned from playing the ACME
Underground tonight, on the basis that we are a 'hardcore' band.
The first WEF arrests this morning probably didn't help, either.
Saturday's F2 show at the Frying Pan will still go on, get info
here. Our new friends in Redencion
9-11 have been added to the bill for Saturday night as well.
NEW SHOW ADDED
-- Blowback will be performing at the NYC Independent Media Center's
Global Action Party Feb. 1st. Check the Shows
section for details.

BLOWBACK HITS THE ROAD -- We played our
first shows last weekend in Washington DC, and things went great. Many
thanks to Katy Otto, Positive Force and the entire Organized Resistance
crew, who came to the show and made it really special. All of the bands
were outstanding: Redencion 911, Del Cielo, Crispus Attucks, Kill The
Man Who Questions and Zegota all tore it up. We got a great
response to the two political actions we are initiating -- a protest
of the Patriot Act and a plea to bring Pinochet to justice. The
form letters you need to participate in this will be posted on the website
very shortly, in case you need them. We will also be organizing
a specific in-person action on Feb. 7, those of you that expressed interest
will be contacted!
Also, many thanks to Chris Suspect and the Kaffa House folks for fitting
us in on Sunday's punk matinee -- another good one! We're now
in New York City, and will be playing Thursday at ACME Underground and
Saturday at the F2 Festival of Resistance Concert, a part of the counter-summit
to the World Economic Forum this weekend in New York. That should be
an incredible event, we hope to see many of you there. The entire concert
will be on a boat -- The Frying Pan at Chelsea Piers. Amy Goodman and
some great bands and DJs will all be in attendance. Again, thanks
to all for your support -- more to come!

NEW SHOW INFO -- We've added a Sunday Jan 27 show in Washington DC.
Check Shows for more info.
We've also added some new declassified documents discussing the level
to which the U.S. condoned kidnappings, beatings and other 'counter-terror'
practices in Guatemala (READ
MORE), as well as the violent interrogation practices of DINA --
Pinochet's secret police -- in Chile (READ
MORE).

The new CD is done. It's called Track III and you can get
it here on the site, or listen to some of the
songs in the audio section. We're getting
to ready to play a few benefit shows in Washington DC and New York starting
next week, we hope to see some of you there.
CNN: RAW IS WAR!
If you're a little peeved that CNN had to pull
its hot-to-trot Paula Zahn ads, fear not. They've struck a deal with
MTV correspondant Serena Altschul to dig deeper into the stories that
Zahn couldn't handle. Journalism, thy name is mud.
"CNN is the place to be if you love news, and I do," Altschul said.
"I'm looking forward to working with some of the world's most respected
journalists."

The record is almost done -- look for it in the next few weeks, along
with more details about a few shows we'll be playing on the east coast
in late January and early February.
YOU ARE LIVING IN A POLICE STATE, PART 72:
The Customs Border Security Act is currently on the floor of Congress.
If passed, it would allow (among other things) Customs officials the ability
to open and inspect any international mail leaving the U.S. -- and provide
Customs officials immunity from civil suits against their actions.

The Blowback record has been mixed by Larry Goetz at The Lair in Los Angeles.
Expect more news very soon.

This is the first transcript
of goings-on at BLOWBACKWEB. The album is well underway. 16 songs have
been recorded in 4 days. It was all done at Candy Ear Studios in Soho,
New York City. David Strahl engineered the record and totally ruled. We
started recording right after Sept. 11, which had a way of rushing us
along to a finish. The record should be all ready by the end of the year.
